Nautical and Mickey Mouse theme party for baby’s first birthday

For my Lexandry’s 1st birthday party, I decided to go with the nautical theme. I added Mickey Mouse to the theme because Lexabdry loves Mickey Mouse and that way I would also give him something that he would enjoy. The colors we mostly used were red, navy blue and white. The nautical theme is used a lot in the spring, so it was not difficult to find decorations and ideas for the party. My mom and I had planned Lexandry’s party since before he was born.

  1. Plan ahead: My first tip when planning any party would be to plan ahead. Planning the party ahead gave as plenty of time to think about what we wanted and how we wanted it.  My mom and I collected pictures from Instagram, Pinterest and google of other nautical parties to create an idea of what I wanted. Planning ahead also gave us time to find everything from the candy containers to the plates and forks we wanted.
  2. set the plan in motion: once I had the exact idea of what I wanted, we then looked for the place to host the party, who would make the deserts and where to buy the things we needed. The party was celebrated at my godmother’s house, which was perfect for the party. Through Instagram, I found the bakery where I got the deserts done. The cake was done by a friend. Etsy is my favorite place to shop when it comes to the party because I love handmade things. My invitations and goody bags were all handmade. I also bought a milestone poster from Etsy, that I thought was really cute. We bought all the glass containers at Michaels, candy and tableware at party city, and lastly toys at a dollar store. My godmother cooked most of the food and we bought pizza for the children.
  3.  set everything up:Give yourself plenty of time to set everything up, so that you can actually enjoy the party. My mom and I started with the goody bags and tableware Monday of that week. We set up the tables the night before the party. My mom had already set the tables weeks in advance, to see how everything would look and if she needed anything else.

I am satisfied with Lexandry’s party because he really did enjoy it. He danced, ate and play all day. I was lucky to have a lot of help with the party, otherwise, it would have been very difficult to pull it off with the baby and while being in my last weeks of class.
