Losing weight postpartum was not my priority after having the baby but after 12 weeks postpartum, I wanted to feel myself again and start eating healthier. After having the baby, my priority was to take care of my son and rest. I know as a woman, it is hard to accept our postpartum bodies but always keep in mind that your body did an amazing job, and give it time to heal and recover. Also before starting any diet or cleansing programs speak to your doctor to make sure you are ready.
Before the pregnancy, I weighed 122 pounds, and at 39 weeks I weighed 150 pounds. I lost 15 pounds within the first week of giving birth, but my weight wouldn’t go down more. My eating habits weren’t the best after the baby since I did not have time to eat. I would grab whatever I could when I had the chance to eat. I used the Bamboo Belly Bandit for about a month. The bandit did help and my belly looked better, but the Belly Bandit became a little loose after. I didn’t purchase a second Bandit because I thought my belly looked fine, but if you think you need more shirking, it would be a good idea to buy two of them. I had never worn a body shaper or belt before, but the Belly Bandit was really comfortable, and it also helped with my posture.
At three months postpartum I weighed 135 pounds and had stopped breastfeeding. I bought a book called 10-day Green Smoothie Cleanse and did the cleanse for 9 days. The book provides green juice recipes, for each day, and tips on how to snack during the day as well. The book also helps you get ready before starting the cleansing, how to continue to lose weight after cleansing, and other juices and food recipes. The juices were really tasty and the recipes are easy to make. I lost 12 pounds in 8 days.
After the cleansing, I have tried to eat healthy, even though it is difficult to do so at times. Being a college student and a mom makes it difficult for me to take the time and cook for myself. After reading the 10-day Green Smoothie Cleanse I became more aware of the things I eat.
I started a cardio class in college, to force myself to attend the gym. I had to go to the gym at least twice a week, and I must say I really enjoyed it. I never went to the gym before the baby, even though I did exercise at home.
I now weight 115 pounds and I am still trying to adapt to healthier eating habits and exercising on a regular base. I want to adopt healthier habits now to teach my son to be healthier from the start.
I am not sponsored by either the book or the bandit, but I just wanted to share with other mom what I used, and what helped me lose the postpartum weight. If you have any questions about my postpartum weight loss, please feel free to comment. Added a link at the bottom to my post on how I took care postpartum. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
